Objectives: To evaluate the quality of life of people living with HIV treated at a university hospital in Rio de Janeiro and its association with sociodemographic and socioeconomic factors.
Methods: A cross-sectional, observational study conducted between July 2022 and June 2023, including 161 people living with HIV followed at a specialized outpatient clinic. Quality of life was assessed using the WHOQOL-HIV Bref instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, adopting a 5% significance level.
Results: Most participants reported moderate to high quality of life. The Social Relationships and Spirituality, Religion, and Personal Beliefs domains showed the highest scores, while the Environment domain presented the lowest. Men showed higher scores in the Independence Level domain, and individuals without income demonstrated lower quality of life in the Independence Level and Environment domains.
Conclusion: Although overall quality of life was satisfactory, socioeconomic and gender-related factors negatively influenced specific domains, highlighting the need for integrated and targeted interventions.
